One of the things I love about being in the mortgage industry is being able to help borrowers find the right solutions.  Having the accounting and tax background allows me to look at all angles for a borrower and help them figure out a solution that makes the most sense. 

For example, I recently met a person going through a divorce.  She owned a home jointly and needed to stay in it for the next 7 years while her daughter attended school.  She needed to pay the ex their equity, but had limited cash flow per month.  We sat down together and looked at all the options available to her.  Ultimately, I recommended she call her current lender and ask if there was any way to get the ex off the current loan without incurring a ton of cost.  The answer was yes!  Great news for her.  Once she completes this step, we will do a small equity loan for her to pay off the ex.  This woman felt great relief and it gave me such joy to be able to help her figure it out.
