One of the things I love about being in the mortgage industry is being able to help borrowers find the right solutions. Having the accounting and tax background allows me to look at all angles for a borrower and help them figure out a solution that makes the most sense.
For example, I recently met a person going through a divorce. She owned a home jointly and needed to stay in it for the next 7 years while her daughter attended school. She needed to pay the ex their equity, but had limited cash flow per month. We sat down together and looked at all the options available to her. Ultimately, I recommended she call her current lender and ask if there was any way to get the ex off the current loan without incurring a ton of cost. The answer was yes! Great news for her. Once she completes this step, we will do a small equity loan for her to pay off the ex. This woman felt great relief and it gave me such joy to be able to help her figure it out.
Mortgages do not have to be stressful. If you are ever in need of advice on what option to select, feel free to call me for free advice. I want to do the loan, but only if it makes sense for the borrower.

I am currently reading a book by a well known financial planner. The author asked me to perform an exercise about my first experience with money. What happened? How did it make me feel? How do I feel about money today?
What I learned was that my first experience with money and what it meant has overshadowed my entire life. I realized that my reaction to items of value and what they mean to me stem from my very first experience. This is valuable information for me to have as I progress with life.
If you have any fear of money or your financial future, write down your first experience and then try to see the correlation between that very first experience or memory and how you handle money today. Use this information to empower yourself and get beyond your financial fears.
Being financially independent is not making more than you make now, but making what you have right now work for you!

Have a great week!
I felt mortgage joy today! It is the thrill of the job that makes it all worth while. I received the loan approval for one of my first-time home buyers and was able to call and tell him he is one step closer to home ownership. I could hear the excitement in his voice. I won't make much on this loan as far as income goes, but the joy I feel at knowing that I helped him become a home owner for the first time is priceless.
Have a great weekend!
